Stacking Header for Raspberry Pi 40-Pin GPIO 2x20 Extra-Tall
This is the header you need when stacking other boards (plates) on top of yout Raspberry Pi. It is possible using stacking headers to add more than one expansion plate to your Raspberry Pi greatly increasing I/O, IoT capabiliities.
Stack multiple accessory plates on your Raspberry Pi using this stacking header. Heck you can even stack more stackable headers to create your own RPi "Massively-Stacked" I/O system.
This 2x20 female header becomes an important tool when working with the Raspberry Pi. This product only works with Pi that have a 40-pin GPIO. I know "2x20" seems self explanatory but it's often better to make sure no one makes a mistake.
The spacing allows you to clear the ethernet and usb connectors when stacking a plate.
The black body of the header is 13.6mm tall: This is so that anything stacked on it will clear the ethernet and usb jacks. NOTE: You should think about insulating the bottom of the PCB you are stacking anyway. When the stacking header is installed on the Pi, the header pins are extra-long, 10.3mm, so that when a standard 1.5mm thickness PCB is installed, there will be 8.8mm remaining, leaving enough room to stack yet another plate.
You can greatly expand the I/O capability of your RPi especially when working with addressable resources on the bus. A long as you have the power(current) from your 5v supply that is.
NOTE: The image with (2) RPi is only an example of what the header looks like when it is installed. The RPi do not come with your shiny new stacking header.
